Job Description

• Directly responsible for driving the creative design and execution of the men’s and women’s PUMA Golf apparel product lines (Golf Performance and SportLifeystyle).
• Work in tandem with Brand Creative Director to incorporate global seasonal direction and initiatives into PUMA Golf ranges.

PURPOSE:
Work in conjunction with technical designers to leverage work experience, product knowledge and apparel process understanding to facilitate the timely development of fit and construction of styles within a specific product category.

Responsibilities:
•Assist in facilitating the transition of apparel styles from design concept / first prototype to a final, production-ready sample.
•Execute design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining Juicy Couture’s high quality standards.
•Collaborate with business partners to gain clear direction and consensus of fit intent; ensure size and fit consistency within the brand and across product categories.
•Support completing design specification package, including: flat sketch with measurements, construction details, measurement specifications with appropriate tolerances and any predefined performance standards.
•Manage and facilitate the communication of all information necessary to create garment, including: BOMs, graphics and placements.
•Develop together with technical designers technical specifications and communicate fit to vendors / factories for corrections and approvals.
•Support business partners on creation of a style by establishing the initial block spec and construction detail as directed by technical designers.
•Ensure products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit and quality standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost specifications.
•Identify potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.
•Analyze garments to determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit intent.
•Help to facilitate fit session on live model and / or mannequin and take ownership of specific product(s).
•Make appropriate fit and construction adjustments with factories as required to ensure integrity of design-approved prototypes while monitoring quality and targeted price.
•Manage the sample development process and ensure seasonal deadlines are met; support the T&A calendar objectives.
•Collaborate and develop close working relationships with Design, R&D, Merchandising, Production, QA, Sourcing Offices and vendors to ensure the quality, delivery and business practices are achieved and upheld.
•Foster open communication and a team environment with all business partners; receive constructive feedback professionally.
•Track and manage workflow and workload for own product and ensure product areas are maintained.
•Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Fashion - Apparel/Textile Design, Manufacturing, Product Development, Merchandising, or a related field.
•2-5 years work experience in the Apparel Industry including technical design and / or patternmaking with construction experience and understanding of total production timeline. Other knowledge should include a basic understanding of grading, costing of garments, textiles, garment testing, draping and fitting.
•Comprehensive understanding of the apparel design & development process from inception through production.
•Knowledge of garment construction standards and manufacturing methods and textiles and interlinings and how they interact with the cutting and sewing of a garment.
•Ability to properly measure garments according to manual standards.
•Strong design, prototyping, and research skills.
•Attention to detail, initiative, organization and strong verbal and written communication skills.

As Senior Apparel Designer - Emerica you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Design innovative and compelling apparel. Create apparel concepts /products that entice our primary consumer to purchase Emerica. Balance Emerica’s defined design language with new looks that inspire our consumers and move the brand to new places. Design:
• Design specific categories while providing leadership and direction on all categories.
• Responsible for providing labels, trims, and embellishments direction on all designs and for all categories.

• Responsible for creating and finalizing Seasonal Direction and Color Palette briefs with Apparel Director.

  • Conduct weekly fittings with live fit models. Fit all garments to meet Company standards, Designer standards and Buyer standards.
  • Effectively communicate to vendors any required changes to the proto and repeat the fit process as required.
  • Facilitate on-going communication with vendors and respond to any technical questions.
  • Create and/or adjust patterns for vendor use as needed.
  • Draw sketches to illustrate desired pattern changes and communicate changes to vendor.
  • Ensure fittings and graded specs are completed within the allotted time frame.
  • Issue graded specs to vendor upon fit and production approval.
Required Skills

REQUIRED SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design or related field is required.
  2. Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, sewing, technical drawing, measuring and fitting.
  3. Ability to communicate technical information to vendors, manufacturers, designers.
  4. Understanding of technical terminology, machinery and computer design programs.

LES showroom is looking for a uber cool intern to work in conjuction with an accessory design company. This intern will assist with the creation of promotional materials, correspondence with magazine editors, contact local boutique buyers, and assist with photoshoots/promtional events. Applicant must have a LOVE for all things fashion and a willingness to jump in and help on all levels! Candidate should be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hrs per week. This position will require some errands to the fashion district to source materials for the designer as well as the use of basic clerical skills.
