Become a member of the U.S. Apparel Team at PUMA North America’s Boston office. The position reports directly to the Group Head of International Apparel.
Job Description
• Directly responsible for driving the creative design and execution of the men’s and women’s PUMA Golf apparel product lines (Golf Performance and SportLifeystyle).
• Work in tandem with Brand Creative Director to incorporate global seasonal direction and initiatives into PUMA Golf ranges.
• Partner with graphic design team in establishing seasonal concept and graphic direction.
• Partner with Group Head in creation of seasonal creative direction, trend, and color presentation.
• Team with World Cat sourcing offices and developers in research of fabrications techniques and applications. Develop thorough understanding of the capabilities, flexibility and limitations of source base.
• Coordinate with garment developers and technical designers to assure fit and styling.
• Create and execute Golf apparel ranges that are brand, channel and account appropriate and meet the needed cost and margin requirements.
• Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of detail sheets, CADS, and tech packages based on design time and action calendar.
We Expect
• 3 -5 years sportswear apparel design experience; direct experience with golf categories preferred.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred with a design concentration.
• Advanced skill level in Illustrator.
• Strong graphic driven design sensibility.
• Skilled at utilizing product data-base development tool (PRM/PDM).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good group presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages at the same time.
• Knowledge of apparel market, color and trends.
• Understanding of sports performance apparel design preferred.
• Sportswear collection experience required.
• Ability to effectively use Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office applications.
• Requires 10% domestic and international travel.

PURPOSE: Work in conjunction with technical designers to leverage work experience, product knowledge and apparel process understanding to facilitate the timely development of fit and construction of styles within a specific product category. |
| Responsibilities: |
| •Assist in facilitating the transition of apparel styles from design concept / first prototype to a final, production-ready sample. •Execute design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining Juicy Couture’s high quality standards. •Collaborate with business partners to gain clear direction and consensus of fit intent; ensure size and fit consistency within the brand and across product categories. •Support completing design specification package, including: flat sketch with measurements, construction details, measurement specifications with appropriate tolerances and any predefined performance standards. •Manage and facilitate the communication of all information necessary to create garment, including: BOMs, graphics and placements. •Develop together with technical designers technical specifications and communicate fit to vendors / factories for corrections and approvals. •Support business partners on creation of a style by establishing the initial block spec and construction detail as directed by technical designers. •Ensure products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit and quality standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost specifications. •Identify potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity. •Analyze garments to determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit intent. •Help to facilitate fit session on live model and / or mannequin and take ownership of specific product(s). •Make appropriate fit and construction adjustments with factories as required to ensure integrity of design-approved prototypes while monitoring quality and targeted price. •Manage the sample development process and ensure seasonal deadlines are met; support the T&A calendar objectives. •Collaborate and develop close working relationships with Design, R&D, Merchandising, Production, QA, Sourcing Offices and vendors to ensure the quality, delivery and business practices are achieved and upheld. •Foster open communication and a team environment with all business partners; receive constructive feedback professionally. •Track and manage workflow and workload for own product and ensure product areas are maintained. •Perform other duties as required. |
| Qualifications: |
| •Bachelor's degree in Fashion - Apparel/Textile Design, Manufacturing, Product Development, Merchandising, or a related field. •2-5 years work experience in the Apparel Industry including technical design and / or patternmaking with construction experience and understanding of total production timeline. Other knowledge should include a basic understanding of grading, costing of garments, textiles, garment testing, draping and fitting. •Comprehensive understanding of the apparel design & development process from inception through production. •Knowledge of garment construction standards and manufacturing methods and textiles and interlinings and how they interact with the cutting and sewing of a garment. •Ability to properly measure garments according to manual standards. •Strong design, prototyping, and research skills. •Attention to detail, initiative, organization and strong verbal and written communication skills. •Ability to multi-task, proactively trouble shoot, problem solve, and the ability to effectively influence. •Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft Excel, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. •Prior experience with patternmaking is an additional benefit. •Organized, accurate and articulate. |

Those of you who think its all fun and games beware: your main responsibility will be creating innovative designs for Emerica’s apparel products. As Senior Apparel Designer - Emerica you will be responsible for but not limited to the following: Design innovative and compelling apparel. Create apparel concepts /products that entice our primary consumer to purchase Emerica. On a seasonal basis develop relevant products that speak to the brand stories that Emerica will tell in the market. Balance Emerica’s defined design language with new looks that inspire our consumers and move the brand to new places. Collaborate with Design, Development and SMU Management to focus product designs for market success. Actively seek expert input to develop appropriate designs with regard to cost/value, fit & performance, manufacturability, sustainability, merchandising and aesthetic finish.
