The intern will be a representative for our company and will be directly involved with the Boston Regional Associate in holding Dress for Success conferences at colleges in the New England area. Direct hands on experience in the fashion PR world. Someone that is seeking to learn more about the Fashion PR industry. Self motivated, desire to learn and take the initiative on assigned projects. Exceptional organizational and personal skills. Positive attitude. Reliable. Independent. Willing to work in a fast pace environment. Enjoys industry events and parties. Available to intern at least 2-3 days a week. Responsible for designing the woven tops collection. Responsible for all design details including creating new body silhouettes and fits, creating fabric print, textile design, fabric repeat, artwork, styling details, and developing graphic artwork for branding and packaging. Will perform market research and develop creative, innovative, market leading designs. Will create visual presentations and follow-up with all design details. Computer design responsibilities includes sketches, graphics, print artwork, multiple colorways and story boards.

Job Requirements
- Minimum five years experience in graphic and product design
- Good MAC design skills in Illustrator and Photoshop

General Summary: The Assistant Designer provides operational support to the Design team in the creation and execution of a line. He/she researches relevant trends, maintains the organization of the design office, communicates with the cross functional team (Merchandising, Production, Graphics), and assists the team in preparation for all milestone meetings.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify trends that are relevant to the P.S. From Aéropostale customer
  • Shop the market on a regular basis for ideas and inspiration
  • Maintain awareness of current selling information as well as market trends and conditions
  • Illustrate understanding of garment construction in the creation of sketches and tech packs.
  • Develop strong working relationships with cross functional team members (Merchandising, Production and Graphics) through communication and problem solving.
  • Maintain awareness of corporate calendar and help supervisor manage deadlines.
  • Understand the basics of the production process as it relates to the classification.
  • Attend and participate in fit sessions. Take detailed notes and follow up as needed.
  • Create and update seasonal assortment sheet.
  • Assist in the management of the design team budget. Own invoice process and maintain organized records.
  • Assist in day to day projects including filing/organizing, copying and updating development packages

Position Requirements:

  • Strong sketching skills and understanding of color
  • Understanding of the youth market and kids customer
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of garment construction
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Photoshop, & Illustrator
