Blank Label is seeking a fashion intern for the summer and fall of 2009. The intern will be a representative for our company and will be directly involved with the Boston Regional Associate in holding Dress for Success conferences at colleges in the New England area. Direct hands on experience in the fashion PR world. Someone that is seeking to learn more about the Fashion PR industry. Self motivated, desire to learn and take the initiative on assigned projects. Exceptional organizational and personal skills. Positive attitude. Reliable. Independent. Willing to work in a fast pace environment. Enjoys industry events and parties. Available to intern at least 2-3 days a week. Internship is unpaid but will be eligible for college credit, intern will also have the opportunity to expand their network of contacts through their connection with Blank Label and will receive fabulous experience and knowledge in the fashion-business world. Description
Position Title: Technical Designer
Position Location: New Albany, OH
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Building detailed tech packs utilizing designer's initial flat sketch & trim sheet
- Creating detailed technical illustrations & specs
- Developing presentation skills and close working relationships with Design, Merchandising, and Sourcing
- Communicating with factories and identifying & resolving issues with production
- Edit and correct paper patterns and also create patterns from scratch when necessary
- Conducting fits on live models
Qualifications
- Design school background, BA/BS required
- Experience working with Web PDM, Adobe Illustrator, and Accumark (PDS)
- Strong retail background and trend awareness
- Knowledge of garment construction and fitting skills
- Attention to detail, initiative and strong verbal & written communication skills
- Patternmaking, grading, draping skills and the ability to manipulate existing patterns
