SKINGRAFT RTW Spring 2010

Tuesday, October 13, was a stormy night in downtown Los Angeles. Outside The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, the sky was filled with dark clouds and rain was pouring, David Guetta "Sexy Chick" was blasting from speakers and a crowd mostly dressed in black was waiting to see the event of the night, SKINGRAF’s Spring 2010 collection.

Inside the art of Bagio Black was on display along with the photography of August Bradley. Glam Palm stylists were transforming frizzy hair into sleek, straight, shiny manes.Pretty Coke promo girls dressed in simple red sequin dresses were passing out Coke and Coke zero to attendees. Honest Tea and Jarritos also took part of the experiential marketing experience.

The runway show was kicked off by a dance number performed by four dancers. For Spring 2010 SKINGRAFT was inspired by post-morterm Amelia Earhart and images of birds in flight. The show featured shearling bomber jackets, jodhpur pants (fitted legs and blooming at the hips),feathered silk blouses. Feminine dresses with ruffles skirts and their signature leather-armor bodices.

One half of SKINGRAFT at the end of the show, Bravo! Great show!

All the models walking the runway at the end of the show.

That dress was truly the "it" piece of the show.

The studding details was sublime.

Ruffles, made these looks more feminine and pretty.

Yes, there's a bird on her shoulder.

Ruffles gave this dress a very delicate girly feel.

First model waiting for her cue to start the runway part of the show.

Anyone can help me i.d. these two? I think they are from Project Runway...

This fellow seemed more interested in texting than watching the dancer's performance...

Leather for cool weather

I love the current collection by SKINGRAFT of great pieces for the chilly California fall season.

Roommate's closet

Tara and Inessah met in 2005 through a Craigslist post for a summer roommate, now best friends and designers of label Sublet. I really love the Fall 2009 collection, still full of simple cuts and very wearable as always. I really wish I would have looked at their website sooner, the bottom dress would be perfect to wear to LA Fashion Week.

Hello Friday!

Sandra Blacklund never stops to amaze me with her lovely and unconventional knits. The current collection is filled with black and voluminous shapes. I appreciate the fact that she lets herself be guided by her inspiration and doesn't worry too much about the practicality of her garments.
